Walden Cemetery in Brights, Virginia near Leesville Lake. I did not take these photographs. They were graciously provided by Thelma Walden and she also provided some of the information.
At one time these graves were near the Mansion House of the Waldens. The House burned down during an altercation between two of the brothers at the beginning of the 20th century. The remnants of the house were covered by Leesville Lake in the 1960s. The Walden house had six chimneys which would indicate that it was a rather large home. The Ward and Adams' families were connected to the Waldens.
To reiterate John (1) and Ann Chiles Ward had a son William Ward (1) that lived in Pittsylvania County.
William (1) married Mildred Adams the daughter of Robert and Penelope Adams.
William(1)and Mildred Ward had a son by the name of John(2)
John(2) married Tabitha Hubbard Walden.
John(2)and Tabitha had a son named William (2).
William(2) married Elizabeth Adams. Elizabeth was the daughter of John Lynch Adams and Martha Walden Adams. Martha Walden was Tabitha's sister. That made them lst cousins through the Waldens. Also John Lynch Adams was the son of Robert Adams, jr. Robert Adams and Penelope Adams were his grandparents. and Mildred Adams was his aunt. So Robert Adams and Penelope were Elizabeths and William's (2)great grandparents.
William and Elizabeth had a daughter by the name of Cornelia and she married Littleton Tazewell Walden.
Okay, if you are not totally confused about now then I haven't done my job. Ha. Ha.
