As promised I will be showing grave markers from the Lynch Cemetery at Avoca in Altavista, Virginia. When viewing the markers you may say, "Where are the Lynch's?" Well, as I had commented before the Lynches and the Wards were closely connected in the 18th and 19th century. The Ward Mansion was only a few miles away. We will be visiting the Mansion Cemetery in a few days. The Mansion did not survive the years, but the cemetery is still there. But back to Avoca Plantation. Avoca was originally called Green Level and was the home of Colonel Charles Lynch and Anna Chiles Terrell Lynch. Notice the name Chiles which we have discussed before. Colonel Charles Lynch was the son of Major Charles Lynch an immigrant from Ireland that was indentured to Christopher Clark. Major Charles Lynch married Sarah Clark, the daughter of Christopher Clark. It was a log cabin where they raised their five children Charles, Anselm, John, Sallie and Christopher. For more information please log on to the Avoca website.
